This is why I'm doing this hobby
Telecommunication testing has always been a passion for
me. When I was young I had a big radio shack antenna and I would pass many hours
trying to get signals from distant TV stations.
When I got older I heard about satellite TV and I read many articles on this. At
that time, it was too expensive for me.
In 2005 I heard about DVB and the fact that you can get a small dish antenna for
just a couple of dollars.
So I began with a small dish and a motor (HH-100), it took many hours to install
but it worked.
After that I heard that you could get a Big dish for close to nothing and that
you could get many channels with a Motorola 922 receiver. So I decided to buy
one with a big 16 foot post and install it in my backyard.
Then I decided to install another post, and another one and another one.
My goal was to be able to get as many sats as I can using what is call a dish
farm.
So I worked with several kind of switches, 12v, diseqc committed, diseqc
uncommitted, 22khz and multiswitches.
I developped a passion for testing all those devices.
Then I discovered Toroidal dishes, this is a great device, allowing you to get
as many as 13 sats on the same dish. So I decided to install my first with dual
lnbs.
And you'll see that I decided to install another one after that.
My goal : being able to get all sats I could see at the same time, using one
receiver and multiple switches.
So this is the results of my work over the years, sometime it worked , sometime
not but it is always fun.
